Guy was born in Kenya in 1971 and having started school there, continued the remainder of his education in the United Kingdom. Throughout his schooling he developed an interest in visual art and at 19 moved on to art college in Cheltenham where he specialised in sculpture and 3D design. His interest in visual creativity continued at the Inchbald School of Design for a year where he qualified for a diploma in 1992. After a short period as a consultant he diverted his attentions to the catering and licensing trade in Brighton and Cheltenham for the next seven years whilst periodically working on painting commissions and design work. Guy is now based in Kenya where he has been involved in management of tourist lodges while at the same time painting commissions and works for exhibition. Starting in November 2006 he has begun a one year program as artist in residence at the Hiram Blauvelt Art Museum in New Jersey, USA. His current interests are the history and culture of the Swahili coast of East africa, and the diverse wildlife of Kenya. Throughout 2006 Guy visited Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Europe and the US and will include observations from these trips in his portfolio. He will also be happy to discuss commissions. |
