Kizimkasi, located on the Southern tip of Zanzibar is the site of an ancient Mosque reputedly built in the time of Mohammed and which is still in use today. Nearby is this beautiful cove with small fishing boats scattered along the crest of it’s beach. Having intended to paint the mosque, I had a change of mind and decided to pay homage to this scene, which has also stood the test of time and says as much about this area as the ancient place of worship.
