MORNING SAIL
Oil on Canvas
10" x 18"
My favourite time of the day in Lamu is from sunrise til about ten or eleven when everything is fresh and the colours are less bleached. The boats which leave at this time hoist their vertiginous sails and edge down the channel between Lamu and Manda at snails pace (depending on the weather) until they hit the open sea and whichever prevailing wind to take them to their destination.
